One of the things I talk about in the book is getting to know you're employees - treat them like the individuals that they are. Don't know what made me think of this, but I'd bet that the mailman knows more about an employee than their manager. Think about it, in a given week/month my mailman sees the following magazines come to my door:
- Fast Company
- Business 2.0
- Wired
- Baseline
- Optimize
- CIO
- CIO Insight
- CFO
- JavaPro
- Java Developers Journal
- XML Journal
- Software Development
- Sports Illustrated
- ESPN
- Hockey Digest
- Four Four Two (soccer)
- Rolling Stone
- Writers Digest
- Etc.
I think he has a pretty good idea about my interests.
Want to get to know someone? Find out what magazines they subcribe to...
Or what blogs are in their blogroll. I love to learn more about other bloggers' interests by cruising through the links on their sites.

Jennifer,
I could not agree more! I spent a few hours this morning doing a bit of research on blogs for an article I am writing - you can really learn a lot about a person from their blog: links, books, music, etc.
Great stuff!
BTW: I love your blog!
