I read the new Seth Godin book last night - 'Free Prize Inside'. Like all his other books, I really, really enjoyed it.
The book is divided into three sections:
1.) Why you need a free prize - The ROI on "Media Spend" & "Technology Spend" isn't guaranteed. In order to stand out, your offering needs to be remarkable... meaning that a customer is willing to make a remark about it. If you create remarkable offerings, people will talk about them, the word will spread and your sales will grow.
2.) Selling the idea - An idea is WORTHLESS unless you can sell it (and implement it). Can't sum it up more than that.
3.) Creating the Free Prize - creating free prizes doesn't occur, as you may think, by brainstorming. They're created by a technique Seth outlines called Edgecraft.
You can read a summary by Seth on his blog, right here
All in all this is a very good book, but, what else would you expect from Seth. I love his writing style. Short, to the point, and I always walk away from his books with loads of great ideas.
